It is more than simply taking roll each day. Teaching attendance involves building awareness about how many absences are too many, encouraging students to come to school every day even when it is hard and engaging them once they are in the school building. Everyone in a school building - whether they work in the classroom, the front office or the cafeteria - can teach attendance!  Attendance Works will unveil the first part of its online Teaching Attendance curriculum and share how school leaders are beginning to use Teaching Attendance to equip staff to improve attendance. Participants will: understand the impact of chronic absence on student achievement;  see the key role that everyone in the school building - from the front office to the classroom - can play in prevention and early intervention strategies to address chronic absence; gain access to the first of three Attendance Works online learning modules; hear from a school leader about how to use the Teaching Attendance curriculum to equip school staff to address chronic absence.
