With the recent focus on these topics in the ARP plans and the ESSER funding, there is an unprecedented opportunity to transform schools by integrating both trauma-informed (TI) approaches and SEL. Used together, and by implementing them school-wide, TI SEL is a holistic way to address student and staff well-being more efficiently than either approaches alone.  This virtual roundtable will present the journey of three districts in their efforts to integrate TI approaches and SEL. The speakers will share their experiences of planning, training, and initiating the implementation process tailored to their contextual needs and resources. The presentations will be followed by a moderated Q&A and discussion on: The need, importance, and timeline of implementing a trauma-informed SEL approach The effort, resources, and buy-in required to integrate and build more inclusive and supportive learning environments The reality of providing staff professional development and supporting adult SEL Barriers and facilitators in the implementation of trauma-informed SEL programming across tiers Strategies that have worked (and not worked) amidst the challenges and repercussions of COVID-19 This roundtable will be of interest to districts, states, and regional centers that are planning to or implementing either TI or SEL or both approaches, and any staff involved in supporting student mental and behavioral health.
