Cabrillo College is seeking to build dorms and apartments that would house more than 600 students, including some UC Santa Cruz students, Santa Cruz Local reported. The community college in Santa Cruz County submitted a $181.7 million proposal to the state for the project, the news site reported. The proposal comes as the state deals with a dire housing crisis that is particularly bad in Santa Cruz, where rent is expensive and little housing is available. The project would include 383 beds for Cabrillo students and another 241 beds for UC Santa Cruz students.
