Poverty, violence contribute to college retention in Philadelphia

Daniel Liberis, a West Oak Lane resident, is one of thousands of African-American students in Philadelphia who have dropped out of college due to economic hardships. With the guidance of Temple University’s Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice, Liberis recently reconnected with like-minded peers and gained a network of support and access to resources that will help him achieve his academic goals.
