In video, current, former Simi Valley residents share experiences with racism

Dozens of people from diverse backgrounds have taken to social media to share their experiences with racism while growing up in Simi Valley. The video is described as an open letter explaining the experiences, including racism, of people of color in the city. Participants, clothed in white against a black background, share details of their past and present in Simi Valley. Simi Valley has a population of 125,613 people, according to 2019 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. About 79.8% of residents are white, 26.3% are Hispanic or Latino, 9.9% are Asian and 1.2% are Black.
