The 50 Safest College Towns in America

Uses the FBI’s 2016 crime data to unearth the college towns with the best safety records. To deem a college town “safe,” the report zeroed in on violent crimes per 1,000 people for each city. Violent crimes include murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. It also looked at property crimes (burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson), but those numbers didn’t impact final determinations.
