Evaluation of Health Concerns in a Public Middle School – Virginia

Presents an evaluation of a middle school in Virginia where employees had concerns about exposure to mold in the school. The main problem was that the crawl space under the renovated part of the school was a potential source of mold and dampness because of improper grading and inadequate ventilation. Many of the non-specific symptoms reported, such as sinus problems and headaches, are common among people working in offices and schools, as well as in the general population. Recommendations for how to prevent these issues in schools are provided.
