Vital Signs: Communication Between Health Professionals and Their Patients About Alcohol Use — 44 States and the District of Columbia, 2011

Examines the use of alcohol misuse screening and behavioral counseling. This study analyzed data from surveys administered in 44 states and the District of Columbia about patient-reported communication with a health professional about alcohol. Findings indicated that only one of six U.S. adults, including binge drinkers, reported ever discussing alcohol consumption with a health professional.
