Administrators at Bunker Hill Community College noticed that their paid internships weren’t reaching minorities and women in the numbers they intended. Here’s how they fixed it.

Emerson College’s Police Department offers the ALICE active shooter training program. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. The aim of the program is to encourage “proactive tactics” in response to potential shooters on campus; new threats and very real threats I had never let myself consider before. In the past couple weeks, I have come to accept that school shootings are not limited to high school and primary education.

At Northeastern University, administrators are encouraging students to take up to two excused absences this semester to "nurture their mental health" and "return to class with renewed purpose." As students readjust to campus life amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Northeastern is one of many colleges nationwide taking new approaches to student mental health. One manifestation? Boston College will ban the use of electronic transportation devices such as e-scooters and hoverboards on campus beginning Dec. 22, The Boston Globe reported. Administrators cited concerns about the “health and personal safety of riders, pedestrians, and building occupants” in an email to the community announcing the ban.
