DES MOINES, Iowa (KWWL) -- Using some federal COVID relief funds, Governor Kim Reynolds announced Tuesday that the Iowa Department of Education would award more than $8.6 million in grants to 64 school districts looking to improve their mental health services.
Among undergraduate students at UI, 52.8% reported moderate psychological distress and 21.7% reported serious psychological distress, according to the National College Health Assessment III undergraduate summary report in the spring of 2021. According to the report, 33.1% of students reported receiving psychological or mental health services in the last 12 months. Of that population, 41.3% reported receiving on-campus services.
