The Wisconsin Department of Justice is keeping its Office of School Safety (OSS) open by reallocating $1,340,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds, but the funding is only temporary. The OSS operates the state’s Speak Up, Speak Out hotline for reporting school threats, trains school staff and law enforcement on preventing and mitigating school violence, and created and trains regional Critical Incident Response Teams for violence or natural emergencies at schools.
