The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2017 (Public Law 115-31) became law on May 5, 2017. Provisions in the law made important changes in FY 2017 to the Title IV, Part A Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) Grant program, including, but not limited to, providing State educational agencies with the option of making competitive subgrants to eligible local educational agencies (rather than by formula).
